Brain Aneurysm Stories

Becky's Story

Hi everyone, I had surgery for an unruptured basilar tip artery aneurysm. I had a bad eye pain and went to the eye dr. He said my left eyelid was drooping and suggested an MRA. After a CT, MRA, and Angiogram the neurologist said I had an aneurysm.

In July, he tried to coil it but the neck was so wide the coils wouldn't hold and a stent wouldn't help. My neurologist didn't have a lot of experience in coiling basilars so he referred me to a dr. in Chicago. I'm in KY.

On Aug. 18, 2009, I had the aneurysm clipped with success. I was in the hospital 6 days then returned to KY and my neurologist here is following me with the aftercare. My right eyelid wouldn't open for about 6 weeks after surgery. After it opened, I had double vision and still have it although it is getting better every day.

Thanks for listening; I enjoy talking to others who've had aneurysms.

Becky
